Rating: 2.0/5

Publisher Description: Fallon’s worst nightmare has come true. The raiders struck at Baltimore and the village is gone. Everything he knew is gone. Everything but his son, Kerrin, found hiding. But the raiders just made their first mistake. Because now Fallon and his friends have nothing to lose. And they are willing to do anything to get their families back.

Review: Just not getting into these serialized novellas, structured around scene compression and filled out with dialogue.  The story-line never really forms into a sense of progression. For example, Fallon’s village is raided and through a weird stilted progression we arrive back at the Crown Prince’s abode where they are planning the capture of the children snatchers. Then back to Fallon and the Duchess demanding he stay and nursemaid refugees. Then back on a ship where his spit and vinegar wife is getting food concessions for the captured.

I guess all will be revealed in successive novellas, and that is the plan. To capture the readers interest in hopes of buying all the reveals. Definitely a planned marketing approach with the novellas crafted to fit. What was an initially intriguing story line is now getting tiresome.
